Honesty Dilemmas
To the Teacher
  1. Together discuss one of the dilemmas from the following list. Begin with the words, “What do you do if…?”
    • You accidentally break a toy belonging to someone else.
    • You want to watch TV and your parents ask if you finished your homework, which you didn’t.
    • Your mom or dad gives you $1.00 of your allowance. Later you realize that another dollar was stuck to it.
    • Your friend is boasting about something he or she did and you know it isn’t true.
    • You see another student take candy from someone else’s lunch bag.
    • You are taking a test and your friend asks you for an answer.
    • A relative gives you a gift and you don’t like it.
  2. Read one dilemma, place students in pairs, and have them follow student instructions.
Tips
  • Keep a box in the classroom where students can place dilemmas they face. These may be anonymous.
  • For a week, discuss one dilemma a day.
