To the Teacher
- Together discuss one of the dilemmas from the following
list. Begin with the words, “What do you do if…?”
- You accidentally break a toy belonging to someone
else.
- You want to watch TV and your parents ask if you
finished your homework, which you didn’t.
- Your mom or dad gives you $1.00 of your allowance.
Later you realize that another dollar was stuck to it.
- Your friend is boasting about something he or she did
and you know it isn’t true.
- You see another student take candy from someone else’s
lunch bag.
- You are taking a test and your friend asks you for an
answer.
- A relative gives you a gift and you don’t like it.
- Read one dilemma, place students in pairs, and have them follow student
instructions.
Tips
- Keep a box in the classroom where students can place
dilemmas they face. These may be anonymous.
- For a week, discuss one dilemma a day.
To the Student
- With your partner, talk about the honesty dilemma and
choices for solving it.
- Choose a way to respond honestly and share it with the
class.
